How to turn off NordVPN auto-renewal (2025)
I’ve been using NordVPN for over a year now. As my renewal date approached, I received an email from the NordVPN team. I’ll tell you what it said and why I’m thinking about turning off NordVPN auto-renewal.
NordVPN auto-renews
In fact, once you start a subscription to any service, auto-renewal is usually turned on without you realizing it. This was actually the case with Translatepress, the WordPress translation pluginI use.
I noticed that NordVPN also has the auto-renew button enabled, but of course, it hasn’t auto-renewed yet, and I’ll let you know right away where you can check it out.
How to turn off NordVPN auto-renewal
1) Turn on NordVPN

To get started on how to turn off NordVPN auto-renewal, you’ll first need to turn NordVPN on. Go to the Settings (gear) button in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
2) Go to Manage Subscriptions

As I went through the process of turning off the auto-renewal button on NordVPN, I realized that NordVPN made the process too simple.
I use a lot of different subscription services these days, and they either make it a really complicated process to not only turn off the auto-renew button, but also to cancel, or worse, they hide it so you can’t do it.
Once you’re in Settings, you’ll find yourself in the Manage accounts and subscriptions section.
3) Turn off auto-renewal

To turn off NordVPN auto-renewal, simply click the Cancel button on the screen above. Based on the above, my next renewal date is August 20, 2025, and by turning off auto-renewal, I can use NordVPN at the current plan price until September 3, 2025.

Why do I want to turn off NordVPN auto-renewal?
I’m writing this post on how to turn off NordVPN auto-renewal for a few reasons. After you’ve gotten your first NordVPN subscription and are well into your first year, I’m sure many of you are in the same situation as me.
When I first subscribed to NordVPN, I actually signed up for a 1-year plan and got an additional 3 months for free. At the time, I was using a server in South Korea and paid $90 for a 1-year subscription.
If you’re curious about why I decided to get a NordVPN subscription (the benefits) and how it compares to other providers, I think this post will help you decide.
I recently received an email from the NordVPN team about auto-renewal and found out the price of a one-year subscription plan, which was around $198.
I emailed the NordVPN team and was told that the original price is $198, but they offer a lower price for first-time subscribers to test out NordVPN’s features.
When I received this email, I was curious about how to turn off NordVPN auto-renewal, and after reading the instructions, I did it.
Finalize
Today we’ve covered how to turn off NordVPN auto-renewal, and even though I’ve turned it off, I still plan to keep my NordVPN subscription.
However, while it’s a bit annoying, I’m planning to find another way to get a subscription that’s much cheaper, and NordVPN thankfully let me know how to do it.
